IN-PERSON CHILD THERAPY

My work with children is grounded in play.
Play is a powerful tool. Play is the language by which children demonstrate their resiliency, strengths while also showing us how their trauma and/or attachment wounds show up. As a trained trauma specialist and drama therapist, I use dramatic play and metaphor to help children process and integrate difficult experiences by joining their play, attuning to their emotions, narrating internal thought patterns and putting words to their experiences, ultimately finding meaning and resolution to what feelings they are having.

My work with Trauma
I use psychodramatic techniques to assist my clients in healing trauma. Psychodrama identifies the healthy, resilient part of the individual first, which acts as an anchor during trauma reprocessing. This allows me to collaborate with you so you may reprocess and heal from difficult experiences through the lens of your resilient self-role. I will also help you notice thinking/behavioral patterns that are informed by traumatic experiences, fear, anxiety and depression so that you can make a positive choice to create healthier thinking and behaviors. Some of these behaviors take on roles, or “characters,” which can interact with each other during our therapeutic work. This psychodramatic work can be compared to IFS and it can be done with adults and children.

Dyadic Work:
Parent & Child Sessions

We heal and grow in relationships, and the most important relationship your child has is with you. As your child's parent, you will take a focal role in the session and I will guide and coach you so you can deepen the connection you have with your child or repair trust and confidence in the relationship. Parents with young infants, toddlers as well as elementary aged kids can benefit from this work. Please reach out to me to learn more.
I offer a free 20 minute phone or video consultation to see if the services I provide would be a good fit for you and/or your family.
